Dark Tokyo (NSFW) - Pollyn

“I directed the video working with a team of talented animators from Los Angeles (JJ Villard). The video was inspired by a few things... First starting out with amazing artwork from our album Distress Signals that was done by Noah Butkus. He’s an artist that I’ve been working with for the last decade or so through my work as art director for Stussy. I used the artwork we’re using for Distress Signals as the jump off point for the video. Melting faces. Embracing. Snake like mouths. I created a little story using those elements. Also was inspired by Jonathan Glazer’s Under The Skin, as well as Akira. The music from the song I did when I was in Tokyo. I had just come back from the CAVEMPT show and they were playing really dark dub/techno...very Trilogy Tapes. I was back in my hotel room and opened up Ableton and started messing around with sounds, delays and very sparse beats. I wanted it to be everything I wouldn’t be able to shoot in real life to make a story about escaping or getting away, which is a theme that runs through the album out May 13th" - Adam Jay Weissman
